About

Built for teams who care about the name.

SoccerTeamNames is a curated hub for finding, generating, and choosing a soccer team name. We built it because every other 'top 100 team names' list on the internet mashes youth-team ideas next to Sunday-league puns next to competitive club brands, with no way to filter by who's actually going to wear the jersey.

Our site fixes that with two mechanisms. First, a name generator that filters along two axes, style (funny, cool, creative, clever, badass, animal, cute, punny) and audience or format (youth, girls', coed adult, competitive, indoor, fantasy, FIFA, and more). Second, 22 category pages, each pulling from the same curated dataset the generator uses, grouped into 15+ themed sub-lists per page.

Who it's for

Coaches naming a new youth team. Adult rec squads workshopping the group chat before signups. Competitive club founders picking a brand that has to last. Fantasy managers rebranding after a bad week. Ted Lasso-inspired coed teams. Anyone who's ever stared at a form that says 'team name' and drawn a blank.

How the lists are curated

Every name in our dataset is hand-tagged along both axes, style and audience, by a human editor. We source names from a mix of established name generators, our own writing, and reader submissions. Names get rejected for being obvious repeats of existing pro clubs, for being crude beyond what most rec leagues moderate, or for being three-words-too-long to fit on a jersey.

What we don't do

We don't invent brand-new AI-generated names from scratch. Every result our generator produces is a curated pick that we've tagged, blurbed, and cross-referenced. We think that's more useful than an infinite-shuffle AI tool, because we've filtered out the names that don't work.
